Townsville has 3 libraries. Thuringowa Central, Aitkenvale and Flinders Street.
Gone is the strict theme of ‘silence only’ in a library, Townsville libraries are very inspiring and have pockets of areas to suit everyone… including the rowdy ones.
Across the libraries many school holiday activities and regular activities during each school term are held including storyime, baby rhyme time and Toddler time. Check out our Family Friendly Events calendar for further details HERE.
Located at 86 Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan.
Thuringowa Library has a Dr Seuss inspired kids area with loads of books, games, toys, beehive reading nooks and softplay.
The amazing Dan Gleeson Playground is at the end of the carpark at Thuringowa, read a book about knights and dragons then visit the park, their imagination will ignite! Read our playground review HERE
Aitkenvale Library, Loud Lounge
Located at 4 Petunia Street, Aitkenvale
Aitkenvale Library also has an amazing kids area with bright colours, books and interactive activities. Messy Play is held here most weeks and is themed each week providing a new experience for children and an introduction to finding a passion for books. Check out our Family Friendly Events calendar for further details HERE.
Aitkenvale Libary also has a cute little park at the end of the carpark. Read our playground review HERE.
