Everything you need at Rollingstone Beach Front Resort (Big 4 Holiday Park)
We didn’t ‘camp’ as such at this one, but you can!
When your friend says ‘let’s take the kids to Rollingstone Beach Front Resort (Big 4 Holiday Park) for the weekend’ jump at it!
We did exactly that last weekend, we hit the road after school and 40 minutes later were unpacking our cars. We stayed in a villa on the beach front with two families with a third family just next to us. All up 5 adults and 4 children (aged 6 – 8) we had lots of room and a fridge with enough food to feed the other cabins nearby!
Arriving Friday afternoon the kids hit the beach straight away and with the tide out it was a great opportunity for them to get with nature and collect Hermit Crabs. They fossicked on the sand finding shells, coral and sponges. We loved the opportunity to give the kids a bit of a ‘longer leash’ to wander and explore (still within eyesight) and they loved the opportunity to be independent.
We had a feast for dinner on the deck out the front and enjoyed a magical full moon rise over the ocean, we really do live in paradise.
Saturday morning the kids were up bright and early at 6.00am ‘shhhhh we don’t want to wake the adults could be heard’ but we were up and the sun was shining so we joined them. An early morning swim in the resort pool was the first stop for the kids. The pool has a cave area which was intriguing for some imaginative water play.
Brekky on the BBQ and then we hit the beach for some fishing. We didn’t catch much in addition to one fish we caught a crab and two rocks……. Not the best result. But the experience and outdoor time was perfect.
We took some snacks and headed over to the giant jumping pillow, just in case the kids were not worn out enough. They were not…… There is a basketball ring in this area but there was a caravan parked close to it so we didn’t risk any rogue balls!
Saturday night means live entertainment at the resort bar and a movie was showing for the kids on a big screen we could also see the glow of a pizza oven! We had to continue to attack that over catered fridge though so another BBQ for us! The kids had worn out some so a much earlier night was had with a lot less talking.
We headed home Sunday morning but not without some sandcastle making, kite flying and pirate adventures on the fallen tree in the water.
We had a wonderful time and loved that we got away but didn’t drive for ages to feel like we had. The accommodation was clean and well maintained there was ample for the kids to do and we as adults were refreshed. If you are a camping family then there is aplenty of opportunity for that here as well. We had a couple of families’ right next to us on the beachfront.
We will be heading back!
